PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE.


1971 – 1979 COMMUNITY WORK - various non statutory organizations in Belfast, North America and London.
1979-1985   Living in Middle East and raising children.

1985-1987  Project Worker Community Education and Arts Centre, Banbury, Oxon.

1987-1998   MANAGER of ‘Open House’, a Mental Health Resource Centre in the East End of London, funded by MIND in Tower Hamlets, linking art and mental health. Coordinated raising money for and the building of a million pound centre including café ,studios, workshops and drop-in facilities. Set up and managed a team of twelve permanent staff and thirty sessional workers. Set up a residency based at the centre with the Whitechapel Gallery.

Nov 2005 – present. SELF EMPLOYED ARTIST/ part time lecturer

Dec 2006 – Feb 2007. Commissioned by NHS Greater Glasgow Health Improvement
Team working on The New Victoria Hospital (Art and Architecture initiative)

2007 – May 2011- Annual visiting Lecturer BA Fine Art, University of the Highlands and Islands (North Uist),

2008 - 09 Visiting lecturer - Glasgow School Art, Level I Architecture.

2008- 2009. Part-time Lecturer, School of Sculpture, Edinburgh College of Art – level 2 Architecture and 1st year MA

Jan – June 2009.  Residency, East Lothian Council/Museums services – installation TENT in the exhibition  East Lothian and the Transatlantic Slave Trade’.

2007 – 2010.  Running workshops – Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre, North Uist, East Lothian Council, 3Harbours festival etc

May 2010 – May 2011 – Founder and Project Manager for environmental social enterprise company  -  ‘Carbon Neutral Stenton’

Currently – Chair of Dunbar Arts Trust and Chair of Art Root Open Studios East Lothian.

25thMarch - 9thApril – 2005.  SHADOW LAND - , installation in international group exhibition, ‘Dudelsack’ in the Deutzer Brucke, Cologne.

25th June – 10th July 2005.  -  disPLACE,  installation in the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh.

Oct – Dec 2005  -  RBS Bursary Award Show, Old Brompton Road. London.

April/May2006 - In collaboration with cameronwebster Architects, joint winner of competition for proposals for a 21STCENTURYCOMMUNITY GREEN.  The Lighthouse Centre, Glasgow.

April – July 2006 – Group show 18@108 Exhibition, RBS, London

17th/18th June 2006 - Installation in central London for Architecture Week in collaboration with LEVACK.

1ST July – 12th August 2006 - Oh!Mother  Solo exhibition. The Dick Institute, Kilmarnock

4th November 2006 - 13th January 2007 – CHANGING PLACES. Solo exhibition, outside and in gallery installations.  Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre, Lochmaddy, Noth Uist, Outer Hebrides.

April/May 2007 -  Royal Academy of Arts, London, Architecture Programme Competition: AGENTS FOR HUMAN INTERACTION – in collaboration with cameronwebster Architects – show of 6 short listed.

4th-26th August 2007 – Group show MAGAZINE 07 at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop as part of Edinburgh Art Festival.

18th Nov-18th Dec 2007 – SURVEY, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop 20th Anniversary exhibition at the RSA, Edinburgh.

July 31st – August 30th 2008   Installation, TOBACCO HOUSE in three venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow, for The Edinburgh Art Festival 2008 - funded by SAC.

July 31st to August 30th 2008.  Temporary installation commissioned by ‘ Big Things On The Beach’, Portobello, Edinburgh as part of The Edinburgh Art Festival.

5th August –  14th November 2008. – Installation for Borders Sculptors in Inverewe Garden, Wester Ross and then on to Priorwood Garden in Melrose, Scottish Borders.

26th Sept. – 12th Oct. 2008.  Installation ALL WRAPPED UP, for FRED - An Art Invasion Across Cumbria.

5th – 14th June 2009  Featured artist for the 3Harbours Festival, East Lothian. TRAWL- Installation in Cockenzie Power Station.
